A little bit about me
My name is Olivia Kent. I am 13 years
old and in 8th grade. Some of
my favorite things to do are reading, baking, cooking, arts and crafts, and
going on Pinterest. My sports are
gymnastics and swimming. I am the oldest sibling in my family. I have two sisters, and a 4-month-old brother.
We recently moved from Tallahassee, FL to Houston, TX, but I was born in
Michigan. This year we are doing a co-op, and my mom teaches a Spanish class. My
favorite subject is math, this year I am doing Algebra 1. My favorite books are
the Harry Potter series, the Mysterious Benedict Society, and any book by Wendy
Mass. My favorite place to go is Pentwater,
Michigan. Also my favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things
through Christ who gives me strength”.
My Baby Brother
Do you like babies? I do, that is why
I was so happy to get a baby brother! My brother’s name is Ethan, and he is so
cute and entertaining! He has massive
amounts of brown hair and he is so happy and cheerful all the time. I love to
watch him grow and learn new things every day.
I was SO excited when I found out we were
going to have a baby brother. I had wanted another baby in the family for a
long time. I could hardly believe it until he was born! My mom was sick when she was pregnant so we didn’t
really get out of the house much. Also,
I had to make lunch most days, but that was okay because in the end Ethan came!
Ethan was born at 8:13 on Memorial Day which
is May 25th. The night he was
born my sisters and I spent the night at our neighbors. We were watching a movie and dad texted us to
say that we had a little brother! We
were so thrilled, but we did not get to see Ethan until the next morning. When morning came dad picked us up and brought
us to the hospital. It was so exciting to see our brother for the very first
time! He was big for a newborn weighing 8lbs. 10oz., and he had an unusual amount
of dark hair, and the cutest little face! We
visited the hospital frequently those two days, and spent time at our friends’
houses. Mom and Ethan were in the
hospital for two days before they could come home.
The first few weeks Ethan slept most
of the day, but we would all spend a good deal of time holding him. As he got older he started staying awake more
and kicking his little legs; he even learned to smile! Ethan gets so much
attention from everyone! He gets stronger
every day. Ethan even learned to lean forward to sitting position, and he makes
lots of noise! A few weeks ago Ethan
learned to roll over. And laugh! The older he gets the more fun he is to play
with. We can make him laugh at tons of things. He loves it when he sees us
jumping or dancing. He even is getting ticklish! One of his most recent tricks is moving around
on his tummy. If he sees a toy he wants, he will scoot forward a few feet to
get it!
Ethan is
so much fun to watch and play with, and he is the cutest baby I have ever seen!
I am so glad we got a baby brother! Although
he is only 4 months old it feels like so long since he was born! Our whole family loves baby Ethan!
I enjoyed you personal narrative! I could really relate to you while reading because I have a baby sister.
ReplyDeleteI can't even try to think what it's like having a baby brother ( since I'm the youngest in the family)! You made me feel like it was my baby brother that I was reading about! I love it! Keep on writing. ( I miss you and Maya!)

I enjoyed reading your writing!
ReplyDeleteI felt like I learned a lot about you from your " about me " paragraph.
You used some very strong adjectives in your personal experience paragraph.
Great job :-)
I loved how you described your brother, even down to his weight. I can picture him in my head!
ReplyDeleteGood job, Olivia. you have great adjectives that describe Ethan exactly like him. Awesome topic, but 1 problem, why is my name not in it!?
ReplyDeleteThank you... Maya- Because i didn't need to, and i didn't feel it was necessary.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's been that long already? Dorothy was 8 lb, 13 oz when she was born. Love everything about your paragraph.
